The Timeline Series

[ back to main list ]

The Timeline series was inspired, and indeed launched by, a Victorian Synchronological Chart or Map of History, devised and published by Sebastian C Adams in Cincinnati, USA, in 1871.

This unique mapping of history through streams was rediscovered in the 1980s and soon a team of editors and designers set about the challenge of reintroducing the magnificent Wallchart and bringing it up to date to include the history of the 20th century. This chart was published by Third Millennium Press Ltd. Building on the stream of time idea, Worth Press has published various titles in a successful and expanding publishing programme.

Whatever the subject matter, this series displays the material in a rich visual presentation that makes the flow of history clear. The way various elements interact and spark off other events becomes evident. The forces that create history become tangible as the streams flow across the pages.

All the titles are highly pictorial with maps, charts, illustrations and photographs with facts and figures, lists, anecdotes and fascinating tidbits of information and, in some cases, encompassing wheels and pages that open out. This series brings knowledge alive as it constantly changes to provide an easy-to-use and exciting work of reference for young and old alike.
